Second Thoughts

I started this blog on Sunday.  Over the past two days, I’ve tried to come up with something, anything, to write my second post about.  I’ve tried reading other blogs and how-to guides.  I’ve tried to think of what I’m “passionate about” (the how-to guides’ phrase, not mine).  I’ve even thought about throwing in the towel after an entire 48 hours with no inspiration.  What it always comes down to is this – what makes me think that anyone cares about what I have to say?

But isn’t that the blogger’s sole reason for existing?  The belief that someone out there is going to take time out of their day to sit and read our words?  Why?  What do I have to say that’s so much more important than anyone else?  I’ve never been comfortable calling attention to myself, and the thought of writing things for other people to read is frankly terrifying.  And yet, here I am.

I’m going to have to give this whole blogging thing some more thought.  In the meantime, here’s another picture of Guinness.

Hello world!

“This is your very first post. Click the Edit link to modify or delete it, or start a new post. If you like, use this post to tell readers why you started this blog and what you plan to do with it. Happy blogging!”

Happy blogging indeed, WordPress.  This is my first venture into the online world – always a spectator, never a participant.  Until today.  This site is mostly intended for me, as my own personal space to record the things and moments that matter to me, and to allow me to share them with those who may be interested.  I’m also planning on using it as a bit of a travel blog, a way to share my experiences abroad with friends and family.

About my domain name….

If you know me in any way, you’re probably aware of my obsession with Ireland, and with Dublin in particular.  Facebook friends will be painfully aware of this (thank you for not unfriending me after the 1000th Dublin photo post).  My domain name pretty much captures my preoccupation with all things Dublin.

Welcome to my blog…..slainte!
